Wow no traffic lights on crooked billet
Love watching these vids for the cars! Still a few 1980s cars on the roads and not one ugly SUV to be seen, all pretty standard sized cars.
6 months after I was born 😮
I was 12 days old when this was recorded, wish i could of experienced that being 22
Memories.... walking to school #SouthGrove #HolyFamily
Back when the tower blocks were still up
So many good memories brought back with my dad watching this
A month after September 11th attacks. Life didn't look the same after it. 😢
London without Indians ❤
lol, him driving throigh the market rd, some of the shops are still there.
I love 1992 and 1997
Strange😂
Whipps is so familiar 😊
Anyone remember The Job Centre Plus on Hoe Street, E17 opposite Albert Road or was it Queens Road E17? I queued in there to accompany some to their appointments! Again, providing interpreting services to some elderly folk of the Paki community who couldn’t access services due to barriers (language) etc. Probably, no footage in the archives…
Had to chaperone many a family friends to Whipps X Hospital in the late 80s and 90s to their hospital appointments (chaperoning and translating for them) on an informal basis! 😊 I was approached by the elderly (Pakis), to read their letters in the 80s and 90s…
All familiar territory!
I visited The Council Tax Office on Hoe Street, E17 to help others with their Council Tax bills over 35 years ago! 😆 Probably, deleted the footage from the archives!
Where you see that pub on 6 mins 13 secs of the clip, to the right hand side of the driver, (opposite Walthamstow Central Station), that’s the pub my father lifted a white homeless male and his dog off from the alleyway (next to the pub). The homeless man used to lie on a cardboard floor box in the alleyway, where the fruit and veg carts were stored. My father gave him clothes, food and shelter! And these people or rather certain leaders have the audacity to destroy a British born Muslim family!?! Then have the audacity to send in social workers and CP officers from The Met Police! All happy are you now, for destroying my family and messing with my son’s education!?!?
Some of the houses on Markhouse Road still look the same!
Childhood memories used to be there
Remembering the 97 bus
@@binchen4197 Me too! The yellow double deckers…
The people saying it was so peaceful and much better back then...please!! The world was just as f*cked as it is today. The worst terrorist attack only a month earlier. These comments must come from kids.
There was no terrorism preceding the 2000s! Well, nothing remotely related to “Muslim extremists or fundamentalism.” The term was probably given currency or coined after me producing my dissertation in 2002! 🙄 There was the IRA in the 90s, however, Muslims were to be scapegoated, post the 2000s. “They” plan these “things” in advance. They know exactly which discourse or narrative is going to be on top of the agenda to fool the masses (ideological threat) as opposed to a real imminent threat!!! This is how the Government control the masses! 🙄 Do not believe everything you hear in the media (full of crap) to brainwash the masses!
Thanks for the memories ☺️
Thanks for the memories
This was the year I moved out of Leyton (and London) after 32 years.
I was 4 month old when this was made
Wow.... to think the baby Tiffany is now 26 years old.
2001 was 22 years ago not 26
@@elijahmckenzie9207 They said she was born in Whipps Cross hospital in 1997 for your information
Amazing documentation here. Barely anything changed IMO
Was born in January 2001
I was 10 years old <3 now I'm 32 and halfway to pasture
before the invasion
Cry
The invasion started way before this.
It was tony blairs britain. The smellys started arriving in flocks in the 90s
@@j_c2225 single-handedly destroyed Britain.
Crazy I’m always around this area
Literally looks exactly the same now. Toilet.
crazy this was only 1 month after 9/11...
22 years ago today, christt
If this didn't say 2001 on it I'd assume it was the 80s. Fucking mental how exponentially things have developed. Walthamstow certainly does not look like this these days
It's the quality of the camera that makes it look older than what it was. 2001 is not all that different from today.
@@darren40522clearly it was. This video proves
@j_c2225 rubbish, 2001 was pretty modern for the times. The quality of the video makes it look older.
@@darren40522 no social media, no smart phones, hardly any internet. Compared to now. It wasn’t modern at all it was still the dark ages 😂
@j_c2225 hardly any Internet? It was on dial up but still pretty common, plus the use of MSN messenger. It was modern for it's time. Fast forward 20 years and today's technology will seem dated if you go by that logic
i was born excatly 16 days later at 10am in Budapest Hungary.
Damn, this was made 5 years before I was born. The houses look the same, but the cars look very different.
5:24 Lada Niva
One month after 9/11, weird thought. The beginning of a new era but you can't see the times change just yet.
Things were getting worse after that day.
Things didn’t change until around 2005
Went everywhere except wood street ffs really wanted to see that.. very interesting nonetheless… 5:14 Apollo Jesus that’s where you would go when blockbuster had nothing good to rent 🤣🤣
I kinda find it interesting about the video that are Filming of this car driving old video because i wasn't even born in 2001 for this filmed 22 years ago later because of this video
Great old driving video around walthamstow
Agree.
*9:43* Straight ahead arrow
Can you believe it’s 22 years since this is filmed
22 years ago for moi!
I love 22 years ago 2001
@@mosesbakare9426 well, life goes on. One day, it’ll all end and by the signs of it, the Day of Judgement is drawing closer.
i was 6
Sat in East London 🇬🇧 that is my hospital I was born in... David Beckham and so many more.... those was the golden day's no speed humps one ways etc. .
big up whipps cross
When the world was a far far far better place
Not really, this was just before 9/11 and the Iraq war in 2003. The early 2000s was a horrible messed up time
@@j_c2225 better than now by miles
@@LR_84 depends in which way. Get where you’re coming from tho
@@j_c2225 very true indeed
@@j_c2225a month after 9/11**
Good old days
Boing boing boing!
I find it weird thinking how I was alive during the time this footage was taken, but I was a little kid so I don’t remember this time at all!
A few days after 9/11! Was that on your mind during this?
Wow, it's all changed now this was when walthamstow was great, great tunes and old cars
